On Monday, January 18th 2016, members of the Project STEP community gathered to commemorate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The event included performances by students, faculty and staff, as well as a testimonial by Rev. Michael Haynes, a ministerial colleague of Dr. King’s at Twelfth Baptist Church and a grandfather to two STEP students. Continuing a new tradition, the event also included a panel discussion on the connections between Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the Black Lives Matter movement, and Project STEP. Featured on the panel: STEP parent Abdi Ali, Christopher Lyden, STEP parent Yvonne Brooks, STEP faculty Jason Amos, and current STEP student Kerby.
